What is Thermage?
Thermage is a non-invasive procedure used to tighten, contour and rejuvenate skin. The Thermage system uses radiofrequency energy for heating collagen (the material that supports the skin’s structure). The heat causes the underlying tissues to tighten in addition to stimulating new collagen growth. This results in improved skin tightening, contouring, and improvement in the appearance of cellulite.
What does the procedure consist of?
The procedure involves a dermatologist using a handpiece to direct the treatment. The procedure may last 30 minutes to two hours, depending on the size of the treatment area. The heating sensation may be uncomfortable so patients are often treated with an oral pain medication prior to treatment. There is no post procedure recovery time and patients resume activities as normal.
